A shooting suspect who was apprehended following a high-speed chase then stole a patrol car and died after crashing it into a big rig last week in Colorado, according to reports.

The shocking string of events unfolded at around 11 a.m. on June 20 in Otero County.

Officers were alerted about shots fired and a dangerous highway pursuit ensued, the Denver Post reports.

According to Colorado State Patrol, 31-year-old Anthony Alphonso Sanchez tried to ram another vehicle and caused multiple crashes during the chase, which came to an end when a trooper executed a PIT maneuver and forced the suspect to stop.

Sanchez was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car.

However, Sanchez managed to slip his legs over his cuffed hands, slide into the driver’s seat, and speed away, triggering another high-speed chase.

Authorities have released more than 20 minutes of footage shot by multiple dashboard and body-mounted cameras.

Sanchez skirted attempts to stop the stolen patrol car, but eventually hit a Stop Stick, lost control, and slammed into a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the big rig was rattled but did not suffer serious injuries.

Sanchez sustained a massive head injury and later died.
