‘What’s the Joke?’ Black Influencers Mock White Hikers for — Being Polite

A video going viral on social media shows a group of black influencers mocking the behavior of white hikers on nature trails, with the majority of interactions featured being very polite.

The video, captioned “White people on a hike,” depicts black individuals making friendly innocuous comments to passersby on a nature trail.

“You’re gonna love the view,” one black person comments while passing another hiker going in the opposite direction.

“It’s wet down there,” another black person cautions an approaching hiker, as another black hiker tells a person, “It’s worth it.”

The video was panned for depicting little more than people acting civil in a public setting, which is what normal society expects of citizens.

“Yeah it’s called a high trust civilization,” commented comedian Owen Benjamin, adding, “These dudes legit think that not throwing rocks at each other is fascinating.”

“What’s the joke? That white people are nice and polite?” questioned commentator Ian Miles Cheong.

Progressive liberal parody account Godfrey Elfwick agreed with the black influencers’ characterization of white hikers, claiming, “This is why I stopped hiking. White people’s naive politeness, innate friendliness, and ability to feel joy at the wonder of nature, made me feel physically ill.”

One X user encouraged white people to begin making parody videos mocking black people in different situations.

Another X user asserted conservatives were being too sensitive over the video, and claimed it was not intended to insult white people, but instead, “The joke is literally that white people like this are some of the most pleasant ones to encounter.”
