WATCH: Plane Tips Backward After Arriving at Gate in NYC

A passenger jet tipped backward into its tail shortly after arriving at gate in New York City over the weekend, according to reports.

The harrowing incident unfolded at around 8 p.m. on Sunday night at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens.

A JetBlue flight from Bridgetown, Barbados, had just touched down and passengers were reportedly in the deplaning process when the aircraft suddenly ‘popped a wheelie.’

Videos have been circulating on social media.

The Airbus A321 can be seen sitting on its tail with its nose in the air and the jetway still partially connected.

“Once at the gate, due to a shift in weight and balance during deplaning, the tail of the aircraft tipped backward causing the nose of the aircraft to lift up and eventually return back down,” a JetBlue spokesman told the New York Post in a statement.

“No injuries were reported. Safety is JetBlue’s first priority; we are reviewing this incident, and the aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection.”
