Watch: NYPD Mocked After Unveiling Overweight Female Dance Team as Crime Soars

The NYPD was roundly ridiculed on social media after unveiling its dance team comprised of overweight female officers.

The NYPD Dance Team joined WPIX 11 to show off their moves last week in a bid to recruit more women to the team.

President Autumn-Rain Martinez described dance rehearsal as “a place to release mental stress.”

“We have to have a space to decompress,” she told WPIX 11.

But many on social media criticized the stunt, pointing out that the NYPD’s priorities seem out of whack given the city is mired in record violent crime.

This comes as New York City is grappling with an unprecedented migrant crisis, with thousands of migrants seeking shelter and other accommodations that’s costing the city at least half a billion dollars a year.

If only the NYPD prioritized enforcing the law and addressing the migrant crisis as much as they do trying to improve their public relations and implementing internal DEI policies.
