Watch: New Yorkers Confront Man Ripping Down Posters of Israelis Held Hostage by Hamas
Footage out of New York captured the moment local residents confronted a man who was witnessed ripping down posters showing Israeli victims kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
In the video, a resident begins filming a man he just observed tear down a sign, asking, “Why’d you rip it off?”
The man ignores the concerned New Yorker’s questions, and proceeds to rip down another sign reading, “Kidnapped,” from a light post.
The video then cuts to the man being confronted by several New Yorkers who are upset he’s ripping down signs, explaining that even if they’re not Jewish, people in America have the right to free speech and to display signs.
“I’m telling you. I’m not fucking Jewish. He’s not Jewish. I don’t know if he is. It doesn’t fucking matter. This is fucking the US. This is New York City. You don’t have a fucking right to touch that shit. This is a free country,” a resident tells the man removing signs.
“You can wave your Palestine flag and say death to the Jews or America, whatever you want. But we can put up a fucking sign, okay?” the New Yorker tells the man.
The resident next tells the man he’ll resort to violence if he doesn’t stop tearing down signs.
“You’re offending us, motherfucker,” the resident tells the man. “When you throw that on the floor, you’re littering the city. In a minute, I’m going to litter the fucking floor with you. So move the fuck on.”
The “kidnapped” posters designed by two Israeli artists have become somewhat of a cultural flashpoint in the Big Apple, as people supporting Israel are attempting to publicize the faces of the missing victims, while pro-Palestinians and Hamas supporters have taken to defacing and removing the bulletins.
