German police arrested at least a dozen suspects after a mob of foreign men attacked a graduation party over the weekend, according to reports.

The shocking incident unfolded during the overnight hours between Saturday and Sunday in Görlitz, a town in the state of Saxony.

A graduation celebration at the L2 discotheque came under siege when around 20 males began harassing attendees.

The assailants then started hurling projectiles at guests while also using broken bottles to slash victims.

Footage purportedly shot by a witness has been circulating on social media.

“Five Germans between the ages of 18 and 48 were injured – some of them so badly that they had to be treated in hospital,” Radio Lausitz reports.

Responding officers apprehended 12 suspects near the scene.

They were identified as male citizens of Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon.

Three of the suspects were treated for injuries.

The nightclub sustained approximately 3,500 euros of property damage.

Local officials were quick to caution Germans against developing or expressing negative sentiments about mass migration.

“When young men gather together and threaten or injure others, then the police and judiciary must take action,” said Christian Democratic Union district leader Florian Graf.

“It is imperative that the nationality and residence status of the men be understood; at the same time, there must be no false prejudgments of people who live here peacefully.”

Görlitz Mayor Octavian Ursu asserted, “Everyone who integrates, adheres to our laws and does not harm anyone verbally or physically is welcome in our European city.”

An investigation is ongoing.
