Video Shows ‘Wrongfully Imprisoned Man’ Killed by Cop During Traffic Stop TRIED TO CHOKE COP — SPLC, Media Blamed ‘Anti-Black Policing’

The leftist mainstream media is being accused of misrepresenting details of a traffic stop which went awry earlier this week, falsely blaming racism after a Georgia sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a black man on the side of the road.

Dash cam footage released by the Camden County Sheriff’s department on Wednesday recorded 53-year-old Leonard Cure’s fateful Monday traffic stop, showing him being confrontational with a deputy as he’s told he’s being placed under arrest for speeding over 100 miles per hour, then violently resisting arrest.

In the video, Cure argues with the deputy that he should just be given a speeding ticket, however the cop tells him he’s going to take him to jail instead.

The deputy then deploys his taser at Cure after he doesn’t immediately comply with a request to place his hands behind his back, which triggers Cure into a fit of rage leading him to violently attack the officer.

The officer uses his baton as he struggles to subdue Cure, but ultimately he grabs his gun and shoots the suspect. Cure later died of his wounds.

Cure’s death was immediately taken up by liberal causes, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, which claimed Cure’s death was a result of “the ongoing anti-blackness in policing.”

On X, the SPLC’s tribute to Cure was slapped with a Community Notes context box explaining he “was shot after the officer attempted restraining Cure using 2 non-lethal devices & methods which ultimately proved to be ineffective, as Cure began choking the officer on the side of a highway.”

The mainstream media wasted no time seizing on the racial aspect of Cure’s death, attempting to paint the narrative that an innocent black man was freed from a 16-year-old wrongful incarceration only to be shot dead on the side of the road by a racist white police officer.

“He was wrongfully imprisoned for 16 years. Then a Cop Killed Him During a Traffic Stop,” read the Rolling Stone headline, omitting the fact he viciously attacked the officer.

The media’s omission of important details behind Cure’s traffic stop was not lost on social media users.

Cure’s family on Wednesday claimed he’d been “triggered” by the officer stemming from his wrongful imprisonment.

“I believe there were possibly some issues going on, some mental issues with my brother,” said Cure’s brother, Michael. “I know him quite well. The officer just triggered him, undoubtedly triggered him. It was excitement met with excitement.”

Georgia Star News’ Tom Pappert reports: “Cure’s family has retained Ben Crump, the civil rights attorney who successfully represented the family of George Floyd in legal actions that netted millions.”

We’ll see if the media will own up to misrepresenting the story, or if it’ll keep up its false portrayal of the incident in the face of overwhelming evidence.
