UK Home Secretary Declares: ‘Multiculturalism Has Failed,’ ‘Toxic’ for Europe

The UK’s top immigration official declared the nation’s “multiculturalism” project has “failed” as hordes of illegal migrants invade Europe.

Addressing the European migrant crisis at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC, Tuesday, UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman said unchecked immigration, migrants’ failure to integrate, and the UK’s adherence to the “dogma of muliticulturalism” were erasing the UK’s national identity.

“Uncontrolled immigration, inadequate integration, and a misguided dogma of multiculturalism have proven a toxic combination for Europe over the last few decades,” Braverman said, adding former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and others have previously espoused similar sentiments.

“Multiculturalism makes no demands of the incomer to integrate,” Braverman continued. “It has failed because it allowed people to come to our society and live parallel lives in it. They could be in the society but not of the society.”

“In extreme cases, they could pursue lives aimed at “undermining the stability and threatening the security of society,” she added.

Braverman went on to list areas of Europe proving that having open borders was a bad idea.

“We are living with the consequence of that failure today,” she said. “You can see it play out on the streets of cities all over Europe. From Malmo, to Paris, Brussels, to Leicester.”

“If people are not able to settle in our countries, and start to think of themselves as British, American, French, or German, then something is going badly wrong,” she added.

The UK Home Secretary went on to caution against allowing gay or women migrants to enter Europe simply on the basis of “discrimination.”

“Let me be clear, there are vast swathes of the world where it is extremely difficult to be gay, or to be a woman. Where individuals are being persecuted, it is right that we offer sanctuary,” she said.

“But we will not be able to sustain an asylum system if in effect, simply being gay, or a woman, and fearful of discrimination in your country of origin, is sufficient to qualify for protection.”

The British politician’s rebuke of gay asylum seekers ruffled feathers, with the Labour party’s shadow equalities secretary Anneliese Dodds blasting her remarks.

“Homosexuality is criminalised and even subject to the death penalty in many countries,” Dodds shot back. “And it’s a fact that LGBT+ people make up a tiny proportion of asylum claims.”

“This is dangerous rhetoric from a home secretary blaming everyone else for her failures.”

Meanwhile, Braverman’s remarks were lauded by countless others who don’t want to see Britain, or Europe’s cultural identity further erased.
