Shock Video: Florida Cops Run Over in ‘Deliberate Ambush’

Two police officers were seriously injured when a suspect plowed a car into them on a residential street in Florida this week, according to authorities.

The shocking incident unfolded at around 8 a.m. on Thursday in Brandon, a community in the suburbs of Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a call from a woman who said her son was behaving violently and erratically at her home.

“When the deputies arrived, they came into contact with Ralph Bouzy, 28, who was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the driveway of his home. Deputies tried to make contact with him, expressing they were there to help, but Bouzy refused to speak to them and drove away,” HCSO explained in a press release.

Minutes later, Bouzy returned and accelerated his vehicle toward an officer standing in the road, forcing him to dive to safety, authorities say.

Bouzy continued at a high rate of speed, “deliberately ambushing” two officers on foot and slamming into their patrol SUV, according to HCSO.

Surveillance footage captured from multiple angles has been released to the public.

Video shows a black male, presumably Bouzy, stepping out of the vehicle and advancing on officers before he is tased and arrested.

“There is no other way to describe this other than an ambush,” said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister.

“Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick.”

The injured officers were identified as Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, and Corporal Carlos Brito, 39.

Both men were treated for “serious, critical injuries” at Tampa General Hospital.

“Bouzy has previously been arrested for three felonies and 14 misdemeanors. He is facing charges of Attempted Murder on a Law Enforcement Officer (X3),” HCSO revealed.

An investigation is ongoing.
