Second Whistleblower Comes Forward, Claims US Attorney David Weiss Wasn’t Really in Charge of Hunter Biden Case
A second Biden whistleblower, who calls himself “Mr. X”, has come forward claiming U.S. Attorney David Weiss, appointed by the DOJ to investigate Hunter Biden, did not actually have the unilateral authority to charge him.
The first IRS whistleblower, Gary Shapely, alleged to Congress in May that Weiss had confessed that bombshell revelation to him in a private meeting.
“United States Attorney Weiss was present for the meeting. He surprised us by telling us on the charges, quote, ‘I’m not the deciding official on whether charges are filed,’ unquote,” Shapely’s attorney Mark Lytle said on Fox News Tuesday.

Now a second anonymous whistleblower, “Mr. X”, has come forward to corroborate Shapely’s allegations.
“[Weiss] had to follow the normal process. He had to go to Washington, D.C. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, them saying no,” the whistleblower’s testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee read.
“So he really wasn’t in charge. He had to follow the process,” Mr. X added.
Hunter last week pled guilty to two federal tax charges and reached a plea agreement with Weiss’ office to a gun charge that resulted in the DOJ recommending probation.
Weiss assured to the House Judiciary Committee in a letter on June 7 that he had the “ultimate” prosecutorial authority to charge Hunter.
From The Federalist:
“Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss told the House Judiciary Committee he had ‘been granted ultimate authority’ over prosecutorial decisions related to the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden in a June 7, 2023, letter obtained by The Federalist. However, Weiss’s letter to Congress — and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s earlier testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee that Weiss had ‘full authority’ to charge Hunter Biden — directly conflicts with statements Weiss made to senior members of the team investigating the Biden son.”
On Friday, Garland also denied Shapely’s claim that the DOJ interfered in the Hunter investigation and asserted that Weiss was independent and had the final say in charging Hunter.
The emergence of this corroborative whistleblower testimony compelled Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday to float a possible impeachment inquiry into Biden’s Attorney General.
“If the allegations from the IRS whistleblowers are proven true through House Republican investigations, we will begin an impeachment inquiry on Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland,” he wrote on Twitter.
