No Survivors: Rescue Crews Say Titan Submersible Suffered ‘Catastrophic Implosion’ After Debris Located

All hope was lost Thursday to save passengers of the Titan submarine destined for the Titanic shipwreck as search parties discovered debris from the missing submersible.

The world watched on in horror as the clock ticked down marking the last few hours of oxygen left that might have made a rescue of living passengers possible.

However, after a Canadian ship reported finding five major pieces of debris on the ocean floor Thursday, a “catastrophic implosion” is believed to have taken place sometime around Sunday that would have instantly killed crew members who paid $250,000 to tour the Titanic wreckage.

A visual animation depicting what such an implosion would have looked like is circulating social media.

“The debris is consistent of a catastrophic implosion of the vessel.. we’ll continue to work and search the area down there – but I don’t have an answer for prospects at this time,” said deep sea expert Paul Hankin, underscoring the fact there’s little hope of recovering any of the passengers’ remains.

“The debris is consistent with the catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber,” reported US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger. “Upon this determination we immediately notified the families.”

“On behalf of the Coast Guard and the entire unified command, I offer my deepest condolences to the families…I hope this discovery provides some solace during this difficult time.”

The five people aboard the OceanGate Expedition submersible included British billionaire adventurer Hamish Harding, WEF Young Global Leader Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman, French Navy veteran Paul-Henri Nargeolet (dubbed “Mr. Titanic” for making 37 previous dives down to the Titanic), and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.
