Maine Builds Rent-Free Luxury Apartments for Illegal Migrants Paid for by U.S Taxpayers

Maine has built luxury apartments for illegal migrants on the taxpayers’ dime, where they will be allowed live rent-free.

Illegals this week began moving in to 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments in a town 30 miles north of Portland, the construction of which came with a $3.5 million price tag.

One migrant woman said the apartments were like a “palace” compared to the shelters and hotels she had been sleeping in since illegally entering the U.S.

Dozens more units are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, where a total of 60 migrant families will live without paying rent for two years while they wait for their asylum applications to process.

“This program is happening through the Maine State Housing Authority. Maine Housing will essentially pay the rent for these asylum seekers for up to two years. After that, they will be converted to a mix of market-rate and affordable housing unless the state says the program needs to be extended,” News Center Maine reported.

The Democrat-run state will also give over $100,000 to migrants for a year’s worth of asylum applications and work authorization assistance.

The development was met with outrage on social media as users noted illegal aliens have taken priority over Maine citizens who face homelessness in one of America’s coldest states.

Maine notably has seen increasing numbers of homelessness since 2021 in the wake of the disastrous Covid restrictions.

From the Daily Mail:

Maine has seen a surge in its number of homeless residents since 2021 and currently has more than 4,000 unhoused people, mostly in and around Portland.

A little over 3,000 of them sleep in shelters.

Residents also pay some of the highest taxes in America. Maine has the costliest property levies in the nation, and only residents of New York and Hawaii pay more tax on the dollar overall, according to WalletHub.

But the government of Maine has decided that the welfare of illegal migrants is more important than that of its own citizens.

Meanwhile, the U.S. southern border is still wide open despite Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) efforts to secure it in defiance of the Biden regime’s open-border policies.

Over 10 million migrants have illegally entered the U.S. since Biden captured the White House in 2021, according to official U.S. Customs and Border Protection figures.
