Kari Lake Announces Run for Senate, Trump Endorses
Former Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake officially announced her bid for a US Senate seat.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters in Scottsdale Tuesday night, Lake declared, “I am not going to retreat.”
“I’m going to stand on this hill with every single one of you and I know you’re by my side as I formally announce my candidacy for the United States Senate,” she proclaimed to raucous applause.
Amid her remarks to supporters, Lake also aired a pre-taped video filmed by ally and former President Donald Trump endorsing her candidacy.
The ex-mainstream media news reporter’s Senate bid follows her uphill battle to challenge ballots and the signature verification process in Maricopa County, which she alleged was deeply flawed and allowed thousands of illegal votes to be cast in her governor’s race against Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Lake’s hat being thrown in the ring now makes it a three-way race for the Senate seat held by Krysten Sinema, who last December switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Independent, with Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego (Ariz.) also vying for the seat.
