Hunter Biden & AG Garland Hobnob at Same State Dinner After Sweetheart Deal Announced

Attorney General Merrick Garland and Hunter Biden were both seen attending a state dinner on Friday night in the wake of the Justice Department slapping him with watered-down tax and gun charges.

The White House dinner had a 400-person guest list, including Joe Biden’s brother James, who was also involved in Joe and Hunter’s foreign business dealings detailed in Hunter’s Laptop from Hell.

The DOJ slapped Hunter with a probation-only plea deal on Tuesday for lying on a gun registration form about his drug use and failing to pay taxes.

Garland, the nation’s top law enforcement official, insisted he was not involved in Hunter’s case, claiming Delaware attorney David Weiss was investigating him independently.

“Mr. Weiss was appointed by President Trump. As the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this matter during the previous administration, [he] would be permitted to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to,” Garland said Friday, reiterating sworn statements he has made to Congress.

But two IRS whistleblowers alleged this week that Garland misled Congress about his involvement in Hunter’s case and personally politically interfered in the investigation.

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley argued Saturday that the whistleblower allegations offer a clear explanation for why the DOJ took 5 years to investigate Hunter only to come up with minor misdemeanor charges.

If true, that means that Garland was not just hearing from experts and members of Congress calling for an appointment, but that Weiss himself also saw the need for such an appointment. Moreover, the report indicates that others in the investigation believed that there was a need to create such separation from the Justice Department in light of what they viewed as the special treatment given the president’s son.

These accounts could explain why the Justice Department took five years to secure a guilty plea to two misdemeanors that could have been established in the first month of the investigation.

It would explain why there is no evidence of serious investigation into the influence peddling or a charge under FARA. It would explain why Hunter’s lawyer cannot recall ever being asked about the laptop.

Rather than question Garland for why he was at the dinner with the person his department was investigating, the media instead decided to grill Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was also in attendance.

It’s one big club and you ain’t in it.
