German Police Hide Background of Syrian ‘Asylum Seeker’ Arrested for Stabbing Man in Neck
German authorities apparently hid key information about a Syrian ‘asylum seeker’ who was arrested this week for stabbing a man in the neck, nearly killing him, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded at around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday in Soest, a town in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The suspect, a 24-year-old Syrian male who resides at a local asylum center, entered a nearby snack bar from which he had been banned for causing disturbances in the past.
When a 42-year-old male employee confronted the Syrian and ordered him to leave, the migrant reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed the man in the neck, narrowly missing a vital artery.
The suspect fled but later returned to the scene while police were present, at which time he was arrested.
The victim was rushed to hospital with a gaping wound in his neck but is expected to survive.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, authorities identified the suspect as a “24-year-old from Soest,” making no mention of his nationality, immigration background, or even the fact that he reportedly lives at ZUE Soest, a “central accommodation facility for refugees” plagued by crime.
On the same day in Soest, two men of “southern appearance” — indicating they are likely migrants from North Africa or the Middle East — looted a local grocery store.
And a short time later, police arrested two men at the Soest train station after a fight broke out and one man tried to stab another.
