French Politician Claims Rioters Tried to ASSASSINATE Him During Night

A French politician claimed the rioters who’ve been burning the country for days made an attempt on his life Friday night.

Vincent Jeanbrun, Mayor of a small town outside Paris called L’Haÿ-les-Roses, said a car rammed into his home in the dead of night before rioters tried setting the home on fire while his wife Melanie and children slept.

“Last night, a milestone was reached in terms of horror and ignominy,” Jeanbrun wrote Saturday on Twitter. “My home was attacked and my family was the victim of an assassination attempt.”

“At 01:30 am, as I was in the town hall just like the two previous nights, people ram-raided my home before starting a fire to torch my house, where my wife and my two young children were sleeping.”

Jeanbrun’s wife reportedly suffered a broken leg and the children also sustained injuries while trying to flee mortar fireworks the rioters were launching at them.

“While attempting to shield them and fleeing the attackers, my wife and one of my children were hurt,” the mayor said, adding his car was also torched.

Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne condemned the “particularly shocking” attack while visiting Jeanbrun’s torched home on Sunday, adding that the perpetrators must be punished with the “utmost severity.”

Local public prosecutor Stephane Hardouin announced he had opened an investigation into attempted murder in response to the mob’s attack.

No suspects have been arrested.

The targeted attack marks a significant escalation of violence in the widespread riots, which have stretched on for over five days following the death of a 17-year-old Muslim boy by a French police officer.
