Breaking! Special Counsel Jack Smith Wants Gag Order Placed On Donald Trump
Special Counsel Jack Smith has asked Washington, D.C. Judge Tanya Chutkan to place a gag order on Donald Trump because he’s making “public statements” about his legal battles.
“The defendant has an established practice of issuing inflammatory public statements targeted at individuals or institutions that present an obstacle or challenge to him,” the special counsel’s office wrote.
The document claims Trump is attempting to “prejudice the jury pool” with his comments when the entire national media landscape does exactly that with its nonstop anti-Trump propaganda.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Joe Biden’s “weaponized DOJ” is “corruptly and cynically continuing to attempt to deprive President Trump of his First Amendment rights.”
While Smith’s request claims the gag order would be “narrow,” political commentator Julie Kelly claimed it would “prevent Trump from posting/saying anything about Smith, Chutkan, DC jury pool, the FBI, the DOJ in general, Bill Barr, Mike Pence, and a host of other figures/agencies.”
Criminal defense attorney Jonathan Turley concurred, pointing out the gag order would “effectively bar Trump from discussing the case in the midst of a presidential campaign…”
Trump issued a response via Truth Social Friday, writing, “Biden Prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, has asked the Court to limit 45th President, and leading Republican Nominee (by more than 50 points, & beating Dems!) DONALD J. TRUMP’S, PUBLIC STATEMENTS. So, I’m campaigning for President against an incompetent person who has WEAPONIZED the DOJ & FBI to go after his Political Opponent, & I am not allowed to COMMENT? They Leak, Lie, & Sue, & they won’t allow me to SPEAK? How else would I explain that Jack Smith is DERANGED, or Crooked Joe is INCOMPETENT?”
The majority of American people understand this is a blatant attack on Trump’s free speech and it clearly amounts to more election interference on behalf of the Biden DOJ.
