Breaking: Chinese Military Claims To Have Developed Laser Weapons Capable of Firing ‘INDEFINITELY’
Chinese military scientists claim to have discovered a major breakthrough in energy weapons technology that would allow laser weapons to fire “indefinitely” without overheating.
According to scientists at the National University of Defense Technology, a new cooling system has been developed that completely eliminates the build-up of waste heat generated by high-energy beams.
“This is a huge breakthrough in improving the performance of high-energy laser systems,” said the team in a paper published Aug. 4. “High-quality beams can be produced not only in the first second, but also maintained indefinitely.”
From Futurism:
The new Chinese cooling system, according to the report, would use gas that blows through the weapon to remove excess heat and allow for weapons to shoot precise laser beams for an indefinite amount of time without losing power or getting distorted.
“High-quality beams can be produced not only in the first second, but also maintained indefinitely,” the team wrote in a new paper on the purported cooling tech, published in the Chinese-language journal Acta Optica Sinica.
The researchers claimed the technological breakthrough could “change the face of battle” in China’s favor.
“It has the potential to significantly change the face of battle by extending engagement times, increasing range and damage, and reducing logistics and costs, according to the researchers,” the South China Morning Post reported on Friday.
Consequently, that could spell a crisis for the U.S. military, which has so far failed to make lasers standard operation weaponry in its arsenal.
“If [Chinese scientists] have overcome the heating and distortion issues as claimed, in a (relatively) small enough unit for deployment, this is a big breakthrough considering the US failures in this area,” former British military official Steve Weaver wrote on X.

The claims have yet to be verified, and skepticism is rather high in scientific circles given the fake news stories surrounding the invention of a room-temperature superconductor.
