Armed Man Shoots Violent Home Invader in ‘Open Carry’ Oklahoma

A man suspected of breaking into a residence where his ex-wife lived was shot by a legally-armed male homeowner in Oklahoma last week, according to reports.

The harrowing incident unfolded just before noon on Wednesday in Midwest City.

Dogs began barking at a home where a woman and her boyfriend were present.

When the boyfriend investigated, he encountered a strange man inside his house.

The suspect reportedly charged at the boyfriend, prompting him to grab his gun and open fire, striking the other man in the chest.

“The intruder, 34-year-old Mauricio Alexander Delarosa, is the woman’s estranged husband, according to police records. The woman’s boyfriend had never met him before,” Fox 25 reports.

Delarosa reportedly fled on foot but collapsed in a neighbor’s yard.

He was transported to hospital where he was treated and expected to be transferred to jail after a period of recovery.

Police say Delarosa had called his wife more than 170 times in under 24 hours before the attack.

“People just be breaking into other people’s houses over here and… I guess that’s what’s going on. And I’m just glad that it’s open carry in this state because people need to be able to protect [themselves],” a local resident told Fox 25.
