Sunday smiles

Another 6 days of insanity have passed, meaning we deserve a 7th day of fun and relaxation.

Mid-May is the time that you can break out the grill, and crack open a cold Bud Light…oops, I mean Miller Light…wait, no…Yuengling is the only safe beer now, I think…and enjoy the beauty of God’s green Earth.

No, seriously. For all the insanity that exists, the truth is that God is good and life is a gift.

One of the key lessons of Christianity is that mankind is fallen, so it is a mistake to expect goodness to prevail. Our own role is to create and sustain what goodness we can, and to avoid the temptations not just of the flesh but of the soul: we should, despite the provocations, not give into hate and despair. Anger should fuel our commitment to making the world a better place, not fuel a rage that leads to destruction.

This is a lesson I keep needing to learn because I spend so much time focused on fighting ignorance and evil.

Humor is a great way to rein in the passions. Laughter has a way of lightening the load and resetting the mind’s train of thought.

That is what Sunday Smiles is all about. So much of what irks us isn’t just bad, but ridiculous. And the ridiculous should be laughed at.

And finally, the big question. If guns are for people compensating for having a small penis, then can you get a gun if you are well-endowed?
