Watch Biden Spox John Kirby Attempt to Explain Why Abortion is Necessary For Military Readiness
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby argued in a bizarre tirade that abortions are key to ensuring military readiness.
Yes, really.
Kirby was pushing back against the recently passed 2024 National Defense Authorization Act which included an amendment to remove the Defense Department’s policy to reimburse military members for travel costs related to having an abortion in another state.
“We’re an all-volunteer force,” Kirby said. “Nobody’s forcing you to sign up and go, people volunteer to go … you raise your right hand, you say, ‘I’m going to do this for a few years or even my life, and it might cost me my life to do it.’”

“And when you sign up and you make that contract, you have every right to expect that the organization, in this case the military, is going to take care of you and they’re going to take care of your families,” he added.
Kirby also argued that funding “gender-affirming care” — ie chemical castration measures or radical sex reassignment surgeries — for trans military members is crucial to preserving their “dignity.”

He also accused states restricting abortions across the country of causing a “retention and morale issue” within the military.
“And so what happens if you get assigned to a state like Alabama, which has a pretty restrictive abortion law in place, and you’re concerned about your reproductive care?’ he asked. “What do you do? Do you say no and get out? Well, some people may decide to do that. And what does that mean? ‘That means we lose talent, important talent. And we’re an all-volunteer force. Recruiting is tough enough as it is with a very strong economy out there. We want to keep the people that we get and we want to we want to make sure that they can continue to serve.”
“So if you don’t think there’s going to be a retention and morale issue, think again, because it’s already having that. Not to mention, it’s just the right darn thing to do for people that raise their hand and agreed to serve in the military,” he concluded.
Kirby’s rationale makes no sense given the military never funded travel for abortions until the Biden regime came to power.
“Paying for abortion travel wasn’t any obligation for the history of the military until the Biden administration. Yet Kirby thinks that not funding abortions – a policy the Pentagon has had since its founding — would somehow lead to fewer people joining the military,” LifeSite reported.
