Biden Torches Trump at Gridiron Club Dinner, rips DeSantis, too
President Biden spoke at the annual Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, D.C. last night. He referred to Donald Trump as too old and mentally unfit to serve. No, really.
The Gridiron Club is one of the oldest journalism associations in Washington. It was held at the Grand Hyatt. Biden’s appearance at the event was his first as president. How convenient that his first time there, since he was elected president, provided him with campaign speech language masquerading as jokes.
The event is known for its speeches filled with jokes made at the expense of political foes. Foreign heads of state usually attend the dinner. This year Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar attended.
“One candidate’s too old and mentally unfit to be president,” Biden said. “The other guy’s me.”
“Don’t tell him, he thinks he’s running against Barack Obama, that’s what he said,” Biden quipped.
The Obama zinger was about a flub Trump made recently. He said the name Obama instead of Biden. Biden’s reference to that gaffe is rich, considering Biden gaffes his way through comments and speeches regularly.
Biden made it through a speech that lasted about 10 minutes. The white-tie dinner was attended by Kamala Harris, as well as the likes of Jeff Bezos and Merrick Garland. Presidents do not always attend the dinner, which began in 1885, but they usually attend at least once during an administration. No photos are allowed and guests are asked to not post on social media until after the dinner is over.
The Biden campaign is making a big effort to deflect away from criticism of Biden’s age and mental acuity by making the same claims against Trump. Trump, at age 77, is not in the same shape as Biden at age 81. The flex by Team Biden isn’t exactly catching fire with voters.
Biden, remember, ran to bring back normal to the White House after the Trump years. He promised to bring the country together. He said he could work with both sides of the aisle. His time as president, though, shows the opposite. He has been more divisive than any other president I can remember. Biden never passes on an opportunity to slam Republicans and Trump – he brags about using the term mega MAGA Republicans.
Biden was elected and campaigned on lowering the temperature. Does it feel lowered? Anywhere?
The out of context “bloodbath” game might have worked four years ago if not for images like this. https://t.co/J9aL8MhVmn

Trump remarked yesterday during a campaign rally in Ohio that if he isn’t elected in November, there will be a “bloodbath” for the auto industry. He referred to tariffs he supports on overseas automakers. The media, playing wingmen for Biden, jumped (pounced) on the word in a nefarious way. That may have worked in 2020 but it won’t work this time around. The more the bias in the media is exposed, the more it backfires on Democrats. It remains to be seen if it works for the Biden campaign this time. Trump leads in almost all polls, especially in swing states.
Biden went after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a former Republican presidential primary candidate. He chose to mock the height of DeSantis.
‘We’re committed to helping the little guy… Ron DeSantis, but he won’t take our calls.’
Biden is lucky he won’t be running against DeSantis. He’s a solid conservative with a proven record. He turned Florida, a purplish state, into a solid red state. And, he is still in his 40s. He would be a stark contrast to Biden, that’s undeniable. Democrats are going to have to win in November without Florida going to Biden.
DeSantis was on Trump’s mind, too. During his campaign rally in Ohio – which included Senator J.D. Vance – he slammed DeSantis.
Trump continues to attack DeSantis: So I hit him hard. I hit him low. I hit him, just like we did to ISIS. We hit him hard. We hit him low. We hit him high. By the time he announced, nobody knew what happened, they said he was a shell of a man pic.twitter.com/b0pRfwQY3t

This is not how Trump wins over DeSantis supporters. He can’t win without them and independents. Trump puts his feelings over the Republican Party and that is how he loses. He should be attacking Biden and other Democrats, not fellow Republicans. DeSantis endorsed Trump when he suspended his presidential campaign.
Republicans need to win in November. We can’t survive another four years of bumbling Biden and his merry minions who are diligently trying to turn America into a socialist state.
