Watch: VP Harris Won’t Say Whether She, Biden Will Participate in Debates
Vice President Kamala Harris refused to say whether she or Joe Biden will participate in presidential debates against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and his yet-to-be-announced running mate.
During Friday’s “NBC Nightly News”, White House correspondent Peter Alexander asked Harris whether Biden will debate Trump.
Alexander said, “Mr. Trump has challenged the president to debate him any time, anywhere, any place. Will President Biden commit to debating Donald Trump?”
Instead of directly answering, Harris went on a tear about how horrible Trump is and how great Biden’s policies have been.

“I haven’t talked to the president about that yet,” Harris replied. “But I will tell you something if you want to look at the split screen to understand what is at stake. On the one hand, you’ve got Joe Biden, someone who is competent, who is principled, who has accomplished more than many presidents even hoped for, be it on infrastructure, on climate, on health care.”
“On the other side of that split screen, you’ve got the former president, who glorifies dictators and has said he’ll be a dictator on day one. Someone who has said that he will weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies,” she added.
Alexander tried an even more direct question: “Should President Biden debate him in your view?”
“That is a choice. This is going to be decided upon soon, and we will keep you posted,” Harris responded.
Then Alexander said, “Will you commit to a debate?”
Harris refused to answer.
“Peter, we just got through the State of the Union. And I’m just so excited about what we accomplished last night and our president,” she said.
Harris’ suspicious dodging of this easy question comes days after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also refused to say whether Biden will participate in a debate against Trump.
“That’s something for the campaign to speak to,” she repeatedly said.

It’s unsurprising the Biden White House is refusing to commit to a debate with Trump given how low expectations were about Biden’s ability to even carry out a decent State of the Union address.
