New York Democrats Now Scheming To Remove Trump From 2024 Ballot After Colorado Ruling

New York Democrats are now calling on the state Board of Election to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot following the Colorado Supreme Court ruling.

Democratic state Sen. Hoylman-Sigal, “elated” by the news that the Colorado Supreme Court ruled Trump will be removed from the 2024 presidential primary ballot, claimed New York will soon follow suit.

“New York is next,” Hoylman-Sigal posted Tuesday on X.

Hoylman-Sigal, along with several other Democratic state lawmakers, wrote a letter on Thursday to state Board of Elections co-chairs Peter Kosinski and Douglas Kellner to fulfill their “weighty responsibility” and remove Trump from the ballot.

“The January 6 insurrection was a violent uprising against the United States that tragically resulted in loss of multiple lives. That dark day in our nation’s history was led, facilitated, and encouraged by Trump. The Board must not allow those who participated to run again for office against the mandate of the Constitution,” reads the letter.

“Therefore, with the urgency of an approaching primary election, we urge the Board to address this critical issue now and to ensure Trump’s name does not appear on the New York ballot.”

This comes a day after California’s Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis called on the CA Secretary of State to “explore every legal option to remove former President Donald Trump from California’s 2024 presidential primary ballot.”

“I am prompted by the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent ruling that former President Donald Trump is ineligible to appear on the state’s ballot as a Presidential Candidate due to his role in inciting an insurrection in the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021,” Kounalakis wrote in a letter to Sec. of State Shirley Weber on Wednesday.

Trump is appealing the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, where many constitutional experts agree the ruling will be quickly overturned since Trump was never charged with inciting an insurrection.

Democrats are scrambling to remove Trump from the ballot in response to Trump polling far ahead of Joe Biden in every key battleground state despite indicting him four times.
