UN Deletes Tweet Claiming Hamas Stole Fuel & Medical Equipment From Gaza Warehouse — But IDF Doubles Down!

The United Nations and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) can’t seem to get their facts straight over a report that Hamas stole essential equipment from a UN storehouse in Gaza.

The United Nations Relief and and Works Agency (UNRWA) first put out a statement Monday morning claiming Hamas stole fuel and medical equipment from its compound in Gaza City.

The agency also claimed its staff were “compelled to evacuate” the UNRWA headquarters on Friday and since then has had “no access” to the compound and “no additional information about the removal of assets.”

The UNRWA deleted its tweet soon after.

But the IDF parroted the UNRWA’s claim on X despite the agency deleting its tweet, asserting, “This remains true even if UNRWA deletes its tweets.”

“Hamas stole fuel and medical equipment from @UNRWA in Gaza. The amount of fuel stolen is enough to power Gaza’s water desalination facilities for six days. Hamas does not care about the people of Gaza. This remains true even if UNRWA deletes its tweets,” the IDF stated.

However, the UNRWA issued an “urgent clarification” a couple hours later claiming no such looting by Hamas took place.

“With regards to reports on social media of looting of an UNRWA warehouse. UNRWA would like to confirm that no looting has taken place in any of its warehouses in the Gaza Strip,” the agency wrote.

“The images circulating on social media were of a movement of basic medical supplies from the UNRWA warehouse to health partners,” it added.

Yet despite the UNRWA’s clarification debunking the claim Hamas stole its equipment in Gaza, the IDF DOUBLED DOWN on the fake news, releasing a video statement by an IDF spokesperson six hours after the clarification insisting Hamas did in fact steal UN equipment.

“IDF Spokesperson, RAdm. Daniel Hagari speaks about how Hamas stole 6 days worth of fuel from the @UnitedNations and from Gazan civilians. Hamas’ crimes continue to pile up,” the IDF wrote on X.

Seems the UN and the IDF can’t get their story straight.

But since it was the UN’s own facility that was allegedly looted by Hamas, that agency should be the more credible authority to determine if that action ever occurred.

Just another instance of the “fog of war” where the truth and the propaganda are difficult to discern.

Notably, IDF airstrikes in Gaza killed 11 UNRWA staffers and 30 UN students last week.

“About 220,000 Palestinians are sheltering in 92 @UNRWA facilities across Gaza. @UN premises & all hospitals & schools must never be targeted. UN staff are working to support the people of Gaza. I deeply regret that some of my colleagues have paid the ultimate price,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres wrote last Wednesday.
