Watch: Fox News’ Kilmeade Attacks Rep. Burchett for Voting To Oust McCarthy — Burchett Calmly Shuts Him Down
Sparks flew during a heated interview Wednesday between Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade and Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), one of the eight Republicans who voted to remove Kevin McCarthy from his post as House Speaker.
Kilmeade took a hostile stance against Burchett from the beginning, accusing the congressman of creating a political “circus” by dissenting from the rest of the Republicans who voted in support of McCarthy.
“What do you think it’s going to do for the Republican Party and holding onto the majority when it looks like you’re the ringleader of a circus led by [Rep.] Matt Gaetz who likes to blow things up but not offer any new ideas. Are you happy following Matt Gaetz? Is that your leader?” Kilmeade asked.

“I’m not following Matt Gaetz. I made my own decision. I didn’t ask Matt for his approval,” Burchett said, adding he would have likely introduced a motion to vacate if Gaetz hadn’t.
Kilmeade went on to accuse Burchett of “leading an insurgency” to remove McCarthy as speaker.
“You have a predetermined answer to everything,” Burchett responded. “…The point is we’re over $33 trillion in debt, this speaker was woefully lacking in leadership skills. He always placed the blame somewhere else. America is going to be better off with new leadership. That’s the bottom line.”
Kilmeade cut in, “And who is that?”
Burchett said the new speaker could be Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) or Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) among others.
“So why are you smarter than [Rep.] Jim Jordan and the 210 other Republicans? Why are you smarter?” Kilmeade asked.
Burchett responded, “I represent my district, brother. And why are you smarter than me? You’re condemning me because I stand up on my own.”
Kilmeade insisted he was just “questioning” Burchett, not condemning him.
“No, the line of questioning is very negative, and you know that. And I know that,” Burchett noted.
“When this is all over with, and we have a new speaker and we’re running smooth, let’s have this conversation again,” he added.
