X users corrected platform owner Elon Musk on Friday when he attempted to claim his social media site values free speech “just as much” as video platform Rumble, which people pointed out unlike X still hosts Infowars founder Alex Jones.

The reaction from users came as Musk expressed disappointment towards embattled actor and commentator Russell Brand’s decision following his YouTube demonitization to direct users to his Rumble channel, rather than use X, which Musk said “has supported free speech just as much.”

Numerous users refuted Musk’s free speech claims by citing as an example the permanent ban of radio host Alex Jones, who has a channel on Rumble, in addition to a recent partnership with Rumble creator Steven Crowder.

Musk had expressed support for Brand’s free speech last week as news of his sexual assault allegations broke, saying, “No more canceling. Enough is enough.”
