‘Wow’: CNN’s Acosta Stunned By Trump’s Polling Surge Amid Deep State Indictments

CNN’s Jim Acosta was left stunned by polls showing former President Donald Trump in a stronger position politically amid a slew of indictments than he was during the 2020 election race.

CNN analyst Harry Enten joined CNN Newsroom on Saturday to break down a Quinnipiac University poll showing Trump at a 1% gap with Joe Biden in a hypothetical matchup despite receiving four criminal indictments.

“It was a two-point race in February, look where it is now, it’s a one-point race. That’s well within the margin of error,” Enten told Acosta who responded with, “Wow.”

Enten also said the numbers show Trump may even be polling ahead in swing states.

“The polling indicates that Trump is, in fact, in a stronger position at this point than he was during the entire 2020 campaign…If we had state level polling, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Trump were ahead in the swing states that are most important,” Enten said.

Acosta called Trump’s political resilience in the face of the four indictments against him “remarkable.”

“From a national standpoint you are absolutely right. It is remarkable where Trump stands right now when it comes to the rest of this field and with general election voters,” Acosta admitted.

In the primary polling, Trump is the clear frontrunner at 62% with DeSantis trailing behind at 16%, leading many to conclude he is the presumptive GOP nominee.

The polling is especially notable given the four criminal indictments against Trump ranging from illegally retaining classified documents to interfering in the 2020 election in Georgia.
